Filed under: Country News When Josh Turner broke into the country music scene in 2003 with ‘Long Black Train,’ the newcomer was the talk of the town. He was touring the country non-stop and turned heads with his good looks and deep baritone voice. But his newfound success wasn’t all fun and games. Josh’s hectic schedule was taking its toll on the singer, both mentally and medically. “My first full year of touring, I did 300 days on the road. That was not including the travel time or publicity or anything else — that was just dates.

Filed under: Country News Brad Paisley is extending his creative talents to the small screen. The three-time Grammy winner has announced that he’s partnering with an impressive group of Hollywood heavyweights to create and co-produce a new show for the CW Network. Tentatively titled ‘Nashville,’ the drama will revolve around an aspiring female singer and a male songwriter whose career path is unstable. Brad says he will both contribute songs for the series, as well make guest appearances as himself on the show.

And the Academy of Country Music didn’t crown him Artist of the Decade this past year for no good reason. Even after being inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame three years ago, the titanic Texan is still notching chart-toppers — most recently, ‘ Living for the Night ,’ co-written with son Bubba and veteran tunesmith Dean Dillon.

NBC's hit series "The Biggest Loser" will catch up with some of the series' most popular contestants from the past seven seasons in the two-hour special "The Biggest Loser: Where Are They Now?" airing Wednesday, November 25 (8-10 p.m. ET). Season eight of "The Biggest Loser" airs currently on Tuesdays at 8 p.m. ET. More than 40 contestants from seasons one through seven will be featured, showing how they look now and sharing what they've been doing with their lives since being on the show.

Crazy crowd, no? But this is the big annual fundraiser to help pay for programs at Rocketown, a faith-based music venue and rec center for teens. Michael W. Smith will host, and former Colts head coach Tony Dungy and Titans head coach Jeff Fisher will be there Martina McBride and Vince Gill will sing. It happens midday Tuesday at Lipscomb Univerity’s Allen Arena. It’s $250 and $50, and at this point, you can only get tix at the arena box office.

Bummer, huh? Were we not all waiting for Taylor Swift to hit the stage with Def Leppard for a little reprisal of their version of Pour Some Sugar on Me ? After postponing the August show here for personal bereavement issues, the fellers in Def Leppard have out and out canceled the Nov. 24 show at the Sommet Center, as well as the rest of the fall tour. Why? “Unforeseen personal matters,” according to a press release. “We know how truly blessed we are to have such committed fans,” the band said in a statement.

I found this letter to the editor in the Stars and Stripes. It seems Sgt. 1st Class William Stone has a good head on his shoulders: …now we have the Nobel Peace Prize being given to someone who hasn’t done anything. How come it wasn’t awarded to me? I’ve been talking about peace for years. Oh, and wait a minute, I believe I’ve actually been fighting for peace a little bit longer than President Barack Obama has. What’s it been [for him], nine months now? Hey, Nobel Peace Prize committee, I’ve been trying to bring peace to Iraq for 37 months.

Let me start out by saying that I normally don’t see a music act twice in the same year. It’s just something I don’t normally do. I made it out to the Josh Thompson show at the Charlie Horse in West Bridgewater, MA for three reasons. First, it’s only 20 minutes from my house . Second, it gave my wife and I an excuse to get out without the kids. Lastly, I had such a good time at his show at the Showcase Live in Foxboro, MA, I thought it was worth checking out again.

Darrell Webb was unable to debut his new band at IBMA this year, though he was on hand performing with Mashville Brigade and filling in with Audie Blaylock & Redline. You’ll have a chance to hear them this weekend though, live on The Wheeling Jamboree Saturday night (10/17). The long-running show airs from Wheeling, WV on Saturday nights and can be heard – and seen – online. Darrell is a West Virginia boy, and is understandably stoked about getting to play the show.

A Baptist Church near Asheville, N.C., is hosting a "Halloween book burning" to purge the area of "Satan's" works, which include all non-King James versions of the Bible, popular books by many religious authors and even country music. The website for the Amazing Grace Baptist Church in Canton, N.C., says there are "scriptural bases" for the book burning.

Details of Garth Brooks’sreturn to the stage are emerging. Mr. Brooks, the country music performer whose title is now “best-selling solo musician” in the United States, announced at a news conference that he will appear at 15 concerts in Las Vegas at the Encore Theater at Wynn Resorts, according to Reuters. The gig is scheduled to start on Dec. 11 and continues into February. Mr. Brooks went into semiretirement in 2001.

With her theatrical music videos, this country singer is now topping the billboard hit charts and has been nominated lot of times in different music awards. I am such a fan of her. I can relate to her music. Almost all girls out there can relate not just me. She just knows what we are looking for. I’m very grateful that there is a Taylor Swift born in this world. Garth Brooks announced his plans at the Grand Ole Opry House in Nashville Country singer Garth Brooks has announced he is ending his semi-retirement and has signed up for an extended run of dates in Las Vegas . The 47-year-old retired from public performing in 2000 in order to spend more time with his three children. He has made occasional appearances at awards shows since then. At a news conference in Nashville he said: "We're going to take the retirement roof off over our head, and I already feel taller." LAS VEGAS — Move over, Cher and Elton - Garth is coming to Vegas.
