AP LAS VEGAS – Garth Brooks mused that the public may have moved on when he announced he was coming out of retirement. Was he ever wrong. Tickets for Brooks’ first 20 shows at the Wynn Las Vegas resort sold out in less than five hours. The resort said Saturday it reached maximum capacity for callers at 141,934, with many getting busy signals. Officials say the ticket Web site had more than 5.4 million page views with 40,000 waiting to buy tickets online at one point.

Richie Fields ’s “Man Enough to Cry” CD has some real highlights and low lights. The title track is a perfect showcase for the baritone’s somewhat limited range and is the best song on the album. A sweet ballad about raising a little boy to be a good man, it’s definitely worth a listen. He should have started off the album with that track. Unfortunately, it opens with “I Remember That Lonely,” which is just not a good fit for Fields’s voice, and listening to him reach for some of those notes is a little hard on the ears.

In Thursday’s review of Trent Tomlinson’s new single “Angels Like Her,” we learned that although the song is set to appear on his upcoming sophomore album A Guy Like Me , it originally appeared on his debut album Country Is My Rock. This is the nineteenth film I saw at the 14th Pusan International Film Festival. Saw it at the Video Room. Cole is a Canadian film about a small-town character who yearns to escape his small-town life among people with no future and ambitions and where everything about the town spells dead and where he doesn't feel he could belong but is continually held down by family and other such obligations. Directed by Carl Bessai, the film has a bit of that autobiographical feel, and is shot on location on a small town called Lytton.

Tonight I played my last show ever at the Uptown Bar with my band Spacewolf. We played from 10:15 – 10:45 and then immediately after loading out I hauled ass over the Varsity Theater with my friends Kat and Lisa to watch Lucero. On the way there I absent mindedly blurted out, “If I miss them playing Kiss the Bottle I’m gonna be pissed”. Luckily, the moment we walked in the door the opening chords to the Jawbreaker cover wafted towards the entrance and I was ready for my favorite Lucero show I’ve ever seen.

After so many years of so many haphazard, oft-overdubbed, slapdash Hank Williams reissues, this lavish package seems truly an embarrassment of riches. There are only a handful of country artists that could execute the amount of smoothness that Billy Dean brought to each vocal. It is a travesty that he did not have a single #1 hit to his name. Dean did have a string of top 5’s in 1992, but Garth Brooks and Billy Ray Cyrus were his kryptonite.

I caught some video of Wayman , a nice looking two-year-old colt by Songandaprayer, as he schooled in the paddock at Santa Anita this morning for trainer Howard Zucker. Wayman is entered in the 4th race at Oak Tree/Santa Anita on Saturday, a maiden special weight event, with jockey Joel Rosario named to ride. Wayman is owned by Dream Walkin Farms, a partnership that includes country music star Toby Keith and Brad Penny , starting pitcher for the San Francisco Giants.

For me, this Garth Brooks Vegas thing is a no-brainer. He's coming, so I'm going. There's no hemming and hawing whatsoever. But I made the mistake of suggesting to my friends that we make a fun, long getaway weekend out of it. We picked a weekend in February, and I gave them all the information they'd need to make it happen. The Wynn Las Vegas link to buy tickets at 10 a.m. CT Saturday (Oct. 24), Southwest Airlines' list of Chicago-to-Las Vegas flights and some names of hotels near the Wynn if that was too pricey.

Keith Urban and Nicole Kidman have a frisky moment as they leave a Starbucks in Nashville on Wednesday (October 21). The family nanny took care of Sunday Rose , 15 months, while mom and dad had a moment to themselves. Keith recently co-hosted the We’re All for the Hall concert in Nashville.
