On Saturday night, country stars Joe Nichols and Heidi Newfield, with the help of Derek Sholl and “Nashville Star” finalist Kacey Musgraves, helped to honor the brave, wounded and disabled warriors from East Texas who have served in Iraq or Afghanistan, at the “Country for Our Country” benefit concert in Tyler, Texas. Funds raised by the event will benefit Military Warriors Support Foundation (MWSF), and be used to support education for the wounded warriors, or their family members.
Mark Wills is asking his fans not only to give their input, but to put themselves both behind and in front of the camera. “‘Crazy White Boy’ is my theme song and is a favorite of our fans every time we play a concert,” Mark explains. “Often, after shows, fans will come up to me not only telling us how much they love the song but how the song is also their personal theme song. They then proceed to tell us these funny and unbelievable stories of the crazy things they and their friends do while listening to our music.” It was during one of these meetings that the idea of having a fan make his video came about.

Songwriters: Chad Kroeger and Nickelback. Nobody was more excited than Bucky Covington when Nickelback frontman Chad Kroeger showed up as a co-writer on the lead single to what will likely be Tim McGraw’s last album for Curb Records. “Nickelback is country, Nickelback is country!” Covington shouted as he dashed out into the streets, embracing strangers and swinging toddlers playfully around by the arms. One of his longest-held dreams had finally become reality.
By Bill DeYoungwww.connectsavannah.comSinger, songwriter, legend, icon. What is there to say about Willie Nelson that you don’t already know?Willie and Family – essentially the same band he’s toured with since the mid-’70s – return to Savannah for a concert in the Johnny Mercer Theatre. At 76, Willie’s probably country music’s hardest–working geezer – bear in mind, however, that he recently completed a CD and a cross–country tour with Ray Price, 83, and 72–year–old Merle Haggard.I’ve interviewed Willie many, many times over the years.

Given the unavoidable preconceptions that go with a name like “Bombshel”, it takes some big boy parts to pull it off. By the end of the night, Kristy Osmunson and Kelley Shepard leave no doubt that they can. Touring in support of their debut album on Curb Records, Bomshel brought their high energy show to Atlanta’s suburbia center of live country music, Wild Bills. The duo hit the stage with with rockstar intensity and stage presence coupled with transparent on stage banter when discussing songs and addressing the crowd.
What an amazing response we received from the Whitney Duncan contest . I think the results speak for themselves; Whitney Duncan is full of talent and fans can’t wait for her debut album! Here are just a few of the comments from fans: Whitney is one of country’s most promising new acts. I have been a fan of her writing since long before her days on Nashville Star and was stunned by her beauty in Kenny Rogers’ video for My World Is Over. If you haven’t checked out the EP, go to iTunes NOW and give it a listen.

Rock, in the end, is how a small group of musicians produces a singular, simultaneous sound. Dylan’s acoustic set on the “Royal Albert Hall” Concert is the former yearning to be the latter. or a really cheesy country music song. For the first time in a long time I have nothing to write about because I have no crisis or upset. Life is just life. Give or take a few wrinkles of course. I’m loved, I love. My sons are both well and thriving. No major family issues with the folks. I’m just loving the life I’m living. I think I’ve settled into my own skin finally. If my life were a song Julie Andrews would be singing about hilltops and kittens and warm fuzzy feelings.

The Eighties were an interesting time. The clothes alone were unexplainable. Music and the movies were changing. As with any trend of an era, things tend to make comebacks. Those of us who grew up in the Eighties were almost certain that certain things from our time period would be spared a revival. We were mistaken. Leggings have made their way back into popular fashion. Unbelievably, the Fashion Powers That Be saw it fit to bring back a fashion style that looks good on nobody, and that only 5% of the population can wear without looking like some sort of odd-colored sausage.
Spiritual? Jessica Simpson is in India shooting her reality show, The Price of Beauty … While in India, Jessica decided to get all decked out in local wares, which included a mahndi hand painting, a bindi… and also devouring all of the cheese naan in greater Mumbai… I’d say this look probably isn’t the best way to foray herself into a hugely successful country music career .

When two people with the same first name decide to hook up, there’s something about it that really weirds us out. Maybe it’s the innate narcissism. Or the potential for identity theft. Or the thing where, whether or not they want to, they’re each bound to shout out their own name in bed. In this case, the same-namers are lovable country music star Taylor Swift and Twilight Series “New Moon” hottie Taylor Lautner. Ever since they were snapped filming make-out scenes for Valentine’s Day, next year’s chick-flick extraordinaire, rumors have been a-flyin’ about their coupledom.

When you’ve reached the upper echelon of country music elite like Tim McGraw has, you have to go big when back touring behind your first album in nearly three years. The tour, which of course will be in support of the October 20th release of McGraw’s s 10th studio album, Southern Voices , will kick off on February 11th, 2010 in Omaha, Nebraska, wind its way through the U.S.

In the Heart of the Heart Country Customer Review: great record…poor sound No question this is a classic, but the remastering of the CD is poor. The mid-highs are harsh and very hollow. There is no remastering info on the CD so I’m not sure if they got the master tapes. I have emailed Wounded Bird Records about this and am waiting for an answer. They have re-released many classics…go to their web site for a long list of surprising titles (Terence Boylan!) Firetown had great promise…their country/folk rock has a little early Wilco, Crosby, Stills and Nash, and even some jangly Byrds guitars.
The 9513 Group has grown to 127 members, but while our membership increases, the quality of our charts remains exemplary. You could take the Top 50 artists on these charts (minus Kelly Clarkson) and build a killer radio playlist with them. It’s split about 50-50 between mainstream country acts and the alt-country/country legends that make up part of the Americana genre. I don’t know if it’s ever been attempted, but if there was a radio station that played Steve Earle, I’d sit through the occasional Faith Hill song.
With a voice that could never sound anything less than “Pure Country,” Joe Nichols ’s “Old Things New” is an unashamedly and refreshingly authentic country music CD. A mix of sweet and sad ballads with plenty of the fun tunes you expect from Nichols, and the songs sound better with every listen. From the opening “Gimmie That Girl” to the closing extra track, a new version of the great “Tequila Makes Her Clothes Fall Off” featuring the so-fun Colt Ford, it’s hard to pick a highlight – the CD is one gem after another.

Whitney Duncan didn’t say “I want to be a country music singer” with her very first words, but she might as well have. With a passion that belied her age, Whitney sang at school events, including multiple elementary and middle school graduations as well as finished as a medalist at a talent competition at Loretta Lynn’s ranch. Country music was always her first love. She begged to go to the famed Tootsie’s Orchid Lounge in downtown Nashville and managed to get up on stage and play when she was barely a teenager.
Country Music star Taylor Swift and Twilight hunk Taylor Lautner (he will always be Shark Boy to me) have kept the dating rumors going after they were spotted out again together in Los Angeles. Taylor and Taylor were photographed together watching a hockey game between the Los Angeles Kings and the Columbus Blue Jackets at the city’s Staples Center on Sunday. The New York Daily News reports they headed back to the same hotel following the hockey game and even says they left the Beverly Wilshire together early the next morning.
