This week the KLF is big in our house.  Me and the boys have been having a good time with their music so I thought I'd share the love.  So each day this week, we will feature a KLF video  as video of the day.  KLF has an amazing story, from their rise to the top of the music business in Europe where they suddenly quit the business in a shocking career ending display on stage at the Brit Awards to their most profound artistic media stunt of burning $1 million, they are truly a storied band.  I'll detail it as the week goes by.  Because there is more to the KLF, much more...

Ironically, we hold their relatable stories of love, loss and Friday nights on a pedestal but when it comes down to something we see on the news, many fans suddenly prefer that these innate songwriters turn a blind eye.

Born To Be A Cowboy? - geezermusicclub.wordpress.com

There was a period during my late teens when I was convinced that I’d been born in the wrong time and place. I was sure that I should have been a cowboy. Or maybe the marshal of Dodge City. I was a little unclear on the details, but the whole idea of having been around in the Wild West fascinated me. I loved all the TV and movie westerns and also enjoyed reading about the old days, especially those books that told a truer story than what Hollywood put out.

This past Saturday I had the honor of participating in Soldier Ride Nashville 2009 . After a week that saw flooding of many areas in the Southeast including Nashville, approximately 20 Night Stalkers linked up at the Park and Ride just off Exit 11 ready to participate as part of “Team Tre” in honor of our Fallen Comrade MSG Tre Ponder.  It was an early morning, not an uncommon time for the men of that group (I can’t speak for the young lady in attendance).  It was also a wet morning, but nothing like what awaited us as we departed for Nashville.

As someone who didn’t discover Kelly Clarkson until 2005, I gotta say. Homegirl rocks. (I guess you could throw Carrie Underwood in that category, too, but I’ve never cared for her…and the country music world is an entirely separate entity. And don’t worry, I’m not dissing the country genre.

With CCR, guitar rock legend John Fogerty made some of the greatest classic rock songs of all time. But then came that fairly awful last CCR album, MARDI GRAS, where everyone took a turn singing whether they actually could or not, and the band was gone. But then as a solo artist, Fogerty's work has been extremely uneven in quality. Sometimes there was a glimpse of his CCR greatness, but many times there was just so-so quality stuff that just wasn't''t up to snuff.

The Garden Cafe, colloquially known as the "Feeding Trough"I’ve met some interesting people on board over the past few days, several of whom are using the cruise ship as ‘alternative transport’ across the Atlantic.  Of course they are vastly outnumbered by Americans who flew to Heathrow specifically for a cruise experience, but still it’s interesting to hear their stories.  I’ve asked the cruise director, a rather cheesy Canadian named Darin, if I can host a discussion on the 29th of people who

A little over a year ago I had a post discussing how country music seemed to have lacked the quality it used to.  As I look back at this post, I can see that I was being a bit biased, as I was comparing the music that I had grown up to as a kid, to the music of my pre-teen and teen years. Besides that, I also did notice that country music in the last year or so has begun to return to a more country/pop sound that was mainstream during the 1990’s, but with a twist.
