I having a hard time feeling bad for LeAnn Rimes . Trouble seems to follow her around everywhere she goes but I must say that it’s not without warrant…. cheating, denying and then showing off for cameras with her new beau Eddie Cibrian doesn’t scream HEY DON’T LOOK AT ME. And now Eddie’s ex wife is once again calling her out on her actions. Miley Cyrus is so happy she’s practically screaming about it. That’s if you could hear the words she writes on her Twitter page. Here’s what Miley Twittered: “I’m the happiest I’ve ever been and for that my family’s SO grateful.” But, apparently some people think it isn’t true. That’s why she adds: “So for LAME bloggers that don’t know what they’re talking about SHUT UP!” Now I have never been one to comment on someone’s happiness but if you have to shout it from the roof tops like that I’m not sure how happy you really are. We initially planned on driving the whole way back to Lansing because I was supposed to work on Friday. That got cancelled so we decided to break the nine-hour trip into two parts with a stop over in Indianapolis.

According to Access Hollywood, country music star, Taylor Swift is on tap to perform at the 43rd Annual Country Music Awards. Also on tap to perform are other country music stars,which include: Kenny Chesney,Reba McEntire, George Strait, Sugarland, Darius Rucker, and Keith Urban. Also the co-hosts, Brad Paisley and American Idol’s Carrie Underwood are scheduled to perform. This event will also be one of the last chances to see the popular country music duo, Brooks & Dunn perform together before they split up next year.

This video appeared on Country Music Television and is now going viral across Louisville. The prankster Tom Mabe , based in Louisville, goes around the Highlands and Downtown to catch unsuspecting people off guard. It’s really quite funny and it demonstrates a little more of urban sidewalk theater, although this time staged. What makes the clip even better is that I recognize a couple people in the video.

Our two favorite female country singers, Taylor Swift and Carrie Underwood, are set to perform at this year’s CMA’s. Also on the list to perform at the 43rd annual Country Music Association Awards are Keith Urban, Kenny Chesney, and Brad Paisley. I wouldn’t mind tuning in just to see this handful of country superstars perform. The show airs November 11th and one thing Swift can look forward to is being able accept an award without being interrupted by Kanye West.

Rock band 3 Doors Down ( Kryptonite, Away from the Sun ) has been added to the big Dierks Bentley motorcycle ride/concert Sunday here in town. So, your lineup for “Miles & Music for Kids” is Dierks, 3 Doors Down, Darius Rucker, Eric Church, Wynonna, Michelle Branch, Heidi Newfield and more. Here's someone we don't see very often! Carrie Underwood was snapped leaving the gym with her bodyguard today in Los Angeles. She seems to do pretty well avoiding the paparazzi, doesn't she? Carrie announced on her website today that she'd be performing at this year's Country Music Awards, as well as co-hosting alongside Brad Paisley . The awards ceremony will be broadcast on November 11. Carrie is also nominated in two categories - Female Vocalist and Musical Event.

As much as I raved yesterday about the crowd at Chicago's Country Music Festival loving Miranda Lambert 's new music, I have to add that the fans were just as enthusiastic about Jamey Johnson 's old music. And by "old music," I don't mean That Lonesome Song from last year. I mean old-school old. Like Vern Gosdin 's "Set 'Em Up Joe" and George Jones ' "Who's Gonna Fill Their Shoes?" He also covered George Strait 's "Give It Away," but I'm not lumping that it with the other classics because it's only three years old and because Johnson had a hand in writing that one.

The other day I wondered this about the Krauss/Plant version of Through The Morning Through The Night: I have a thing about this song, and the distinctive country minor-lilt of the harmonies. That interval, that particular pairing of vocal parts, IS country music. How does something like that evolve? Is is just based on a regional singing accent? What’s the thing? I can’t get that question out of my head.

Condolences to Amy Grant and all other family and friends of Ruth McGinnis , a violinist and writer and life coach. Friends put together this statement: Ruth started her battle in 1996 with ovarian stage-four cancer, but fought the good fight. She found out last month that the cancer had come back only in a different location. She died peacefully at home today. She has recorded five music CDs and has written two books. She played her violin at the opening of the Schermerhorn and played with Amy Grant on tour and in most of the Tennessee Christmas shows.

Country music fans will get a real treat this winter as Martina McBride and Trace Adkins have announced plans for an extensive co-headlining tour that will get kicked off on November 20 in Moline, IL at i Wireless Center. The duo will continue to tour through an April 10 show in Bismarck, ND. Some of the highlighted shows over the tour include, December 3 in Colorado Springs, CO at Colorado Springs World Arena, January 31 in Fairfax, VA at Patriot Center and February 26 in Cleveland, OH at Wolstein Center.

Small wonder that authentic Southern mountain music will reign supreme at the Museum of Appalachia’s Tennessee Fall Homecoming , which runs Thursday through Sunday (Oct. 8-11) this week. But a fair share of new bluegrass will be added to the mix when more than 400 musicians are slated to perform bluegrass, gospel, folk and old-time country music on the museum grounds, located at 2819 Andersonville Highway near Clinton, Tenn.

According to Headline Country the future for Cailtin & Will is uncertain. Sony has announced that they will no longer be a duo. From the Headline Country Website: After dropping Keith Anderson and Caitlin & Will from its roster, Columbia Records has confirmed that Caitlin Lynn and Will Snyder have split as a duo. Filed under: Concert News‘Late Show’ host and avid country music fan David Letterman has invited Tim McGraw to stop by his show twice in one week for what will be very special concert events. Tim will perform Oct. 12 and Oct. 16 on ‘The Late Show With David Letterman,’ followed by mini-concerts billed ‘Live on Letterman,’ which will be broadcast on the CBS website and on CBS Radio country stations. Tim is only the fourth artist in history to have a concert hosted by ‘The Late Show,’ following Paul McCartney , Pearl Jam and Elvis Costello.

I have so much to learn. And I'm starting to think Luke Bryan is just the guy to teach me. His latest album, Doin' My Thing , out today, is full of life lessons. Like the fact that corn makes whiskey ("Rain Is a Good Thing"). I did not know that. Nor did I know what a .30-06 was ("Drinkin' Beer and Wastin' Bullets") or that Coke from a green glass bottle is colder than that plastic stuff ("Welcome to the Farm").

Did you know that Nashville’s identity as Music City didn’t originally have anything to do with country music? The Fisk Jubilee Singers , who celebrate their 138 th anniversary with a performance today , received high praise from the England’s Queen Victoria when singing for her during a fund-raising tour in 1871. Impressed by what she heard, the queen remarked that the singers must hail from the “city of music.” The queen was right. In the years since that fateful trip, Nashville has never relinquished that name.
