Sitting atop the country music hit machine, Rascal Flatts has enjoyed a string of success like few in the genre since 2010. White hype perhaps rivaled only by Sugarland and Taylor Swift this fall, the band looks to release their seventh album on November 16 this year. With their last five album reaching number one on country charts and their last four hitting number one on pop charts, fans can expect some of the same magic that has endeared them to Gary, Jay and Joe since 2000.

emotional numbers often seen as first single by Rascal Flatts, “Why Wait” is a lighter number that has a young protagonist enthusiastic about young love and having fun. “Why don’t you say, girl, we do something crazy?” is the tag line to the song, and the song reaches the energy of past hits like “Bob That Head” or “Life is a Highway.”
Gary LaVox shows off his pop side on this hit, and the song finds him delivering couples over a strong bass line and some strictly country sounding guitar. “Love don’t need a reason,” sings LeVox, and the boys chime in with some background vocals over the chorus. The song’s playful character is highlighted by some back and forth between the instrumentalists and the vocals, as they alternate between guitar and fiddle during Gary’s verses.
Touring the country with Kellie Pickler and Chris Young over the summer and fall, fans can expect to hear “Why Wait” on stage for the first time, as well as a likely number of new songs from the album only a few months out. Known for their live energy, “Why Wait” will likely have the band enjoying some call and response with the crowd, and will be infusing energy into many a setlist both indoors and out.
