The Higgins Dreamers Like Us CD Review
Review by Chuck Gooch
Canada always seems to make good country music. Groups like Blue Rodeo, Shania Twain, Adam Gregory, and all the way back to Ann Murray and before have graced our ears with that country sound that reminds us down in the US how much like our brothers and sisters of the Great North are alike.
The Higgins stand in the footsteps of some great Canadian Country artists, but with their 2nd CD Dreamers Like Us, they're proving they have the chops to hold their own with the big boys, and make some pretty darn good pop country while sounding like they're having a blast.
The title track is made for Country Radio. It gives a Wilson-Phillips vibe, and invites you to sing-along

by the 2nd listen. Kathleen's voice is made for recording, and her performance on this album are superb. Seeing the kids playing instruments also gives them points.
A team of Nashville songwriters helped pen some great music for this sibling trio, but the success lies in the performances on Dreamers Like Us. They've got that blood-harmony and they're operating on all cylinders .
"All Cried Out" is another great track that gets your heart pumping and its a "I'm Over You" song done to near perfection. This one will be in the ipod of plenty of teenie-boppers when their boyfriends break-up with them.
Who knows if The Higgins will have mainstream success with Dreamers Like Us. Its the right kind of music for the right time, so their chances look good. Either way, if they keep making music like they did on there Sophomore album, success will take care of itself.
