Buy The Upsouth Twisters Music
The UpSouth Twisters, formerly Lucky 7 have released their first full-length CD in over a decade. The album, also called The Upsouth Twisters, has been released on UpSouth Records. The Upsouth Twisters still feature that Lucky 7 sound which always has included the accordion, upright bass, harmonica, mandolin, a rub board, some timbales and many more instruments, too numerous to mention. Another feature of The Upsouth Twisters is the guest appearance of some of Levon Helm’s horn players, Erik Lawrence and Steve Bernstein.
The Upsouth Twisters Are Hard To Label
Whether The Upsouth Twisters are Zydeco, roots rock, delta blues, Cajun rockabilly, Roadhouse or Americana, most critics call it plain good music. Drawing from Elvis-era Rock’n’Roll, classic country, and even delta blues, this New York City band have truly paid their dues. The Upsouth Twisters are just plain American music.
The Upsouth Twisters are Not Your Average NYC Band
The UpSouth Twisters may be New York based, but the music is pure heartland, as Austin American-Statesman’s Michael Point said:
- “The group’s seamless set was solid and substantial, full of prime party-time dance music underpinned by a resilient rhythmic thrust that pushed and pulled the music in consistently interesting directions.”
The band’s founder is the omni-present Kenny Margolis, appears on albums with Cracker, The Smithereens, Fredy Johnston, and The Silos and many, many more. Billy Roues and Steven Roues as usual brought their songwriting and experience in this album, available by cd or mp3.
