Big Kenny "Long After I'm Gone"

Whether he is performing alongside former cohort John Rich or voicing his opinions as a judge on CMT's reality talent search 'Can You Duet?', Kenny Alphin, known more commonly and lovingly as 'Big Kenny', never fails to stand out in a crowd. With his signature wild hair peeking out from beneath a fedora, combination of country and Bohemian style and unique jumbled Southern drawl Big Kenny is far from the typical western singer. But in his solo release 'Long After I'm Gone', surprisingly, it is the simple and ordinary things in life that are often universally paramount to every man and woman that are the inspiration behind his new song.
Focusing on his longtime mantra 'love everybody', Big Kenny abandons the cheeky declarations about saving horses and riding cowboys that first brought him fame and instead sings about life in the heartland reveling in the calming simplicity of growing up in Virginia as a farmer's son with Music City dreams. And he moves on to the present in following verses only to have learned holding his wife and baby in his arms are even more rewarding than the success he once dreamed of obtaining as a working musician on the Nashville scene.
Big Kenny's not going anywhere soon
At the core, Big Kenny is living by example and encouraging everyone to cherish their family and friends while there is still time because you cannot take material possessions with you when your time comes to an end, but the memories you make from the love and kindness shared with others will continue to resonate long after you are gone.
With the inspirational message 'Long After I'm Gone' aims to spread, it could easily become a somber tune with the implied realization of death or even a sappy one. But with its lively tempo, guitar picking, catchy beat and Big Kenny's distinctive, laid back vocals it manages to avoid easy pitfalls and is instantly uplifting and draws the listener in. Hopefully, Big Kenny's first solo endeavor will not be his last.
