Bomshel "Fight Like A Girl"

request Bomshel "Fight Like A Girl"A mother’s wisdom and pure strength appear to shine through on the newest effort by country duo Bomshel. Their single, “Fight like a Girl”, debuted on the Country music charts in February of this year at #54. It wasn’t a very strong start, but could very well be showing promise since original member Buffy Lawson split (along with the high chart rankings).

Overall, the song has a great production and it very easy on the ear. The song rocks more than anything else and features some lick filled guitar work. There is also some fine Hammond B-3 work on this track as well. At the end of the day, it is all about those pretty ladies up front (Kelley Shepard and Kristy Osmonson). The duo really sounds great together and it is kind of a shame that they have not been able to produce as good results as the original lineup. Perhaps Lawson had a strong hold on the fan base? Either way, the girls are doing a great job and will no doubt prevail over whatever is holding them back with “Fight like a Girl”. The inspirational theme is what stands out the most and is great advice for any woman out there.

“Mama wiped the tears and said
"Baby, you're brave and you're beautiful.
So, hold your head high.
Don't ever let 'em define
The light in your eyes.
Love yourself, give them Hell.
You can take on this world.
You just stand and be strong
And then fight
Like a girl.
"

Bomshel Fights like a girl

This verse really sets the tone for the rest of “Fight like a Girl” and stays right on track with the theme. The song takes you through a girl’s life that seems to struggle with many things but always fights her way through the obstacles life throws at her. Even the final verse shows the power that lies within every woman when the singer gets told she has cancer.

“Oh, but money and power don't matter
When the doctor said "the cancer spread"
She holds on tight to her husband and babies
And says "this is just another test God gave me.
And I know just how to handle this… I’ll fight like a girl”.

It’s not the most memorable song in the world, but is a great step in the right direction for Bomshel. Maybe now fans can get over the fact that Lawson doesn’t need to be around in order to have a great hit.

"Fight Like A Girl" Lyrics

Little girl alone on the playground
Tired of gettin' teased and gettin' pushed around
Wishin' she was invisible
To them

She ran home cryin'
"Why do they hate me?"
And Mama wiped the tears and said
"Baby, you're brave and you're beautiful.
So, hold your head high.
Don't ever let 'em define
The light in your eyes.
Love yourself, give them Hell.
You can take on this world.
You just stand and be strong
And then fight
Like a girl."

At 31 she was wheelin' and dealin'
Kept on hittin' that same glass ceilin'
She was never gonna one of the boys, no
She coulda gave up on her ambition
And spent the rest of her life just wishin'
Instead she listened to her mama's voice sayin'

"Hold your head high.
Don't ever let 'em define
The light in your eyes.
Love yourself, give them Hell.
You can take on this world.
You just stand and be strong
And then fight
Like a girl."

Oh, with style and grace
Kick ass and take names

Ten years of climbin' that ladder
Oh, but money and power don't matter
When the doctor said "the cancer spread"
She holds on tight to her husband and babies
And says "this is just another test God gave me.
And I know just how to handle this"

I'll hold my head high
I'll never let this define
The light in my eyes
Love myself, give it Hell
I'll take on this world
If I stand and be strong
No, I'll never give up
I will conquer with love
And I'll fight
Like a girl

  1. Women are too often pushed around in their daily lives & this song is a reminder to them not to take anything from their men.

  2. As a breast cancer survivor myself, a person who founded an equestrian event to raise money for cancer research, and a woman who is still facing down challenges in her life, this song epitomizes the strength women can find in themselves. It is really an inspiration!
