Carrie Underwood "Cowboy Cassanova"
Review By Matthew Fortuna:
Carrie Underwood has mastered all that is supple and sexy about country singing – all that is empowered and engaging. She appeals to men and women alike, and her vocals have dominated every track she has laid them on, from the soft and sweet to the impassioned and edgy.
Underwood’s new single “Cowboy Casanova” is the first offering from her upcoming third studio album “Play On,” to be released on 3 November 2009. Her first single oozes with the energy and sexuality of “Before He Cheats” and “Last Name,” and shows the edge and attitude that Underwood has complimented with a softer side.

Underwood is warning about Cowboy Casanovas
Perhaps a sequel to “Before He Cheats,” “Cowboy Casanova” is a warning to the girls following in her steps. She is warning the future interest of her ex-boyfriend to stay away. “You better take it from me,” sings Underwood, “that boy is like a disease.” The boy is no good, and Carrie has the experience to back it up, so stay away she advises.
The song has a real rock and roll vocal with a heavy and engaging guitar lick, all through a call and response chorus. Underwood releases the vocals with venom and finds her self caught up in quick-pace couplets at the end of every verse.
Carrie Underwood is obviously at the top of her craft when showing off her vocal range and ability, and can belt or croon with the best of country songstresses. “Run away,” she implores, and with her emotion and experience, how could you not hang on every word she says, and every note she sings.
Perhaps no longer the good girl of American Idol, Carrie is sure to score another hit with “Cowboy Casanova.” Poised to be her eighth number one single, and seventh individual number one in a row, the new single shows that Underwood is again headed in the direction that has developed her as one of the preeminent women in country music, and a pop diva that transcends genres.

"Cowboy Casanova" Lyrics
You better take it from me, that boy is like a disease
You’re running, you’re trying, you’re trying to hide
And you’re wondering why you can’t get free
He’s like a curse, he’s like a drug
You get addicted to his love
You wanna get out but he’s holding you down
‘Cause you can’t live without one more touch
He’s a good time cowboy casanova
Leaning up against the record machine
Looks like a cool drink of water
But he’s candy-coated misery
He’s the devil in disguise
A snake with blue eyes
And he only comes out at night
Gives you feelings that you don’t want to fight
You better run for your life
I see that look on your face
You ain’t hearing what I say
So I’ll say it again
‘Cause I know where you been
And I know how it ends
You can’t get away
Don’t even look in his eyes
He’ll tell you nothing but lies
And you wanna believe
But you won’t be deceived
If you listen to me
And take my advice
He’s a good time cowboy casanova
Leaning up against the record machine
Looks like a cool drink of water
But he’s candy-coated misery
He’s the devil in disguise
A snake with blue eyes
And he only comes out at night
Gives you feelings that you don’t want to fight
You better run for your life
Run run away
Don’t let him mess with your mind
He’ll tell you anything you want to hear
He’ll break your heart
It’s just a matter of time
But just remember
He’s a good time cowboy casanova
Leaning up against the record machine
Looks like a cool drink of water
But he’s candy-coated misery
He’s the devil in disguise
A snake with blue eyes
And he only comes out at night
Gives you feelings that you don’t want to fight
You better run for your life
Oh you better run for your life
Oh you better run for your life
