Dierks Bentley "I Wanna Make You Close Your Eyes"
Review by Matthew Fortuna

Living up to his own shoes has left Dierks Bentley producing some of the hottest, hardest hitting and highest selling hits in country music for over two years now. His Long Trip Alone album met with high success and some of the biggest country hits of 2008, while “I Wanna Make You Close Your Eyes” proves that Dierks has followed the same formula with 2009 album Feel That Fire
.
His new single, the third from his most recent album, is a departure from number one smash hits “Feel That Fire” and “Sideways.” Whereas the latter two were pure country rock and an emerging country dance-club song, “I Wanna Make You Close Your Eyes” rekindles a bit of the softer side of Dierks found on previous releases, and at other refreshing spots on his new album.
The vocal from “I Wanna Make You Close Your Eyes” reminds fans of the sweet, understated performance of hits like “Long Trip Alone,” and again reminds music critics that while Dierks is not the

Dierks Bentley wants you to close your eyes
classically trained vocalist that some contemporaries may be, his style, emotion and power far outweigh the need for a soothing voice. His vocals roll and turn in a sweet tumbling mixture, and reach emotions far beyond his apparent range.
The instrumentation is easy acoustic guitar with an accented drum beat and steel guitar, and Dierks is expressing love like he rarely has on record before. Co-written by Bentley, as were all but two songs on the album, Dierks has evolved from the “Free and Easy” Bentley of past albums, to a more mature songwriter and performer. His new song proves that Bentley encompasses all genres of country music, and that the style emanating from this hit-maker isn’t a fluke, but an all out assault on the upper echelons of the country charts in 2009.
The long-hair, the grizzled face and the country style get fans interested, but the content, the substance and the voice – oh, that voice – keep them drawn in close.

"I Wanna Make You Closes Your Eyes" Lyrics
Girl I've been waitin' on this long hard day to get over
So i can rest my head right here on your shoulder
I just wanna lay here and feel you breathe
Listen to the rhythm of your heartbeat
And see where it leads...
We're wide awake but girl I wanna make you close your eyes
And say my name like only you can say it and hold me tight
All I need is only you and me alone tonight
I wanna make you close your eyes...oh yeah...
You can make me work for it girl if you want to
Just leave a trail for me to follow you into the bedroom
And if you need a little bit of help from me
Babe there's not a button that I cant reach
Lets see where it leads
We're wide awake but girl I wanna make you close your eyes
And say my name like only you can say it and hold me tight
All I need is only you and me alone tonight
I wanna make you close your eyes
I wanna take you somewhere...out there...
'Til the world fades out of sight
We're wide awake but girl I wanna make you close your eyes
And say my name like only you can say it and hold me tight... just hold me tight
All I need is only you and me alone tonight
Yeah.. I wanna make you close your eyes...oh
I wanna make you close your eyes...oh
Girl... I wanna make you close your eyes
