Jason Michael Carroll "Hurry Home"
Review by Matthew Fortuna
The mellower, softer side of Jason Michael Carrol emanates from “Hurry Home.” He discards nostalgic looks at home and reminisces of college parties, for the plea to a missing daughter.
The third single from 2009’s Growing Up Is Getting Old, “Hurry Home” follows on the heels of the top Carroll's 40 hit, “Where I’m From” and reflects the softer side of the 31-year-old from North Carolina. Not exactly a hub of country stars, Carrol emerged to the Arista Nashville label in 2007 and has been bringing pure country since then, North Carolina or not.
“Hurry Home” echoes much of the sentiment of Kenny Chesney’s mega hit, “There Goes My Life,” and shows off the contrast of Jason Michael Carrol’s singing and performing range. Set off side by side with

Hurry Home JMC
raucous romps like ‘Barn Burner” and pure country ditties like “Where I’m From,” “Hurry Home” takes from the likes of Rascal Flatts, and surprises in a genre that Carrol is just beginning to show his true skill in.
An estranged daughter has taken to the big city in “Hurry Home,” and Carrol and songwriter Zane Williams plead for her return home on this album-closer. The dad realizes reaches out to a daughter out of place and scared, and encourages her to come back home: It doesn't matter what you've done, I still love you / It doesn't matter where you've been, you can still come home / And honey if it's you, we've got a lot of making up to do / And I can't hug you on the phone, so hurry home.”
Jason Michael Carrol may be no veteran to the country scene – yet – but with a list of skills as long as his line of fans, he is sure to make noise in a Nashville scene that craves talent like his.

More on Jason Michael Carroll and his new single
Roughstock says Carroll excells on this ballad.... Jason Michael Carrol grew up in a very strict household. No non-religious music was allowed. He was spanked by his father for keeping a copy of Billy Ray Cyrus' "Achy Breaky Heart"
"Hurry Home" Lyrics
He's been sitting by the phone since she left
But it's time for work and he just can't be late
So he grabs his old guitar
And he plays a couple bars on the machine
And then he softly sings
It doesn't matter what you've done, I still love you
It doesn't matter where you've been, you can still come home
And honey if it's you, we've got a lot of making up to do
And I can't hug you on the phone, so hurry home
Well the message light was blinking when he got back
It was an old friend calling cause he just heard the news
He says Man I hope you find her
If I see her I'll remind her that her dad is worried
And want her to know
It doesn't matter what you've done, I still love you
It doesn't matter where you've been, you can still come home
And honey if it's you, we've got a lot of making up to do
And I can't hug you on the phone, so hurry home
Well the days dragged by without a word from her
And it looked like she might not be coming back
People said man don't you think it's time to take that old message off
He said no, you never know when she might call
She was just outside a bar in New York City
Her so-called friends had left her all alone
She was scared he wouldn't want her
But she dialed up that old number and let it ring
And then she heard him sing
It doesn't matter what you've done, I still love you
It doesn't matter where you've been, you can still come home
And honey if it's you, we've got a lot of making up to do
And I can't hug you on the phone, so hurry home
He walked in just in time to hear her say
Dad, I'm on my way
