The lyrics in the first verse contain a surprising mixture of audacity and sensitivity that immediately draw in the listener from the start 'baby, lay back, dream out loud. Tell me the things you wish for and think about. You ain't gonna' scare me. No, I ain't gonna' run. Come on and whisper your fantasies to me one by one.'
The promises detailed in the chorus turn the tune into a modern day fairy tale with Wayne acting as Robin Hood, but fortunately, he has traded in the outdated green tights and bow and arrow for blue jeans, cowboy boots and a microphone. 'The sun in the morning, kissing your skin. A blanket of night that you're wrapped up in. Your lover, that one best friend, I'll be that. The one that'll stand and fight for you. A safe place you can run to. The truth in the words 'I do', I'll be that to you.'

Heartfelt sentiments continue in the following verses with guarantees from Jimmy Wayne that 'I'll spend forever here in your arms, learning your body language 'til I know it by heart' and 'I'll be beside you, whatever you face'.
A song filled with romantic promises that are rarely spoken by real couples in daily life is hardly anything new in any musical genre, but with his rich vocals and impressive falsetto Wayne has managed to bring a bit of effervescence to an old standard and show a little of the spunk was that was missing from Jimmy Wayne's album's previous singles.
