Love And Theft "Runaway"
Review by Shaun Hague
Eric Gunderson, Stephen Barker Liles and Brian Bandas seem to have a great formula going as Love and Theft. The band is running hot after releasing their highly anticipated debut EP “Live in Savannah”. The single off that disc, “Runaway”, is a wonderful fusion of country and modern pop sounds.
The combination of the three talented singer’s voices is undeniable. They kind of have that great Eagles harmony magic going for them (If you don’t understand the reference, YouTube “Seven Bridges Road” by The Eagles). It is clear they have worked hard at developing a unique sound with their tonalities and songwriting. With just three voices and three acoustic guitars, the trio has such a full sound in "Runaway" that as a listener, you don’t seem to mind that there is no band behind them to help push it along. I also enjoy the approach they take in "Runaway", sounding more like a pop/rock band than just another Rascal Flatts. Another great thing about Love and Theft is their ability to play the guitar and not just hide behind their voices. I find that is a trademark quality for a lot of country stars today; they know how to pay and do it well!

Love and Theft "Runaway"
It is clear from the crowd’s reaction (who were there to see Taylor Swift, not Love and Theft) that this is just the beginning of a long road for them. It is also going to leave fans hanging and looking forward to a full length studio album. I sincerely hope they stick with the method of what is working for them now, as they could easily be the next epic country/pop band.

Love and Theft "Runaway" Lyrics
It's been a long week, I've got a slow leak In my left front tire
I'm sick of where I work, my boss is such a jerk Don't care if I get fired
My back's about to break, no money in the bank And she don't call me anymore
I'm down my last drink It's time to sell my things
And pack my bags and never look back Run a parallel line with the railroad tracks
And make my getaway
I'll put the pedal to the metal as the sun goes down
Leave everyone sleepin in this sleepy town tonight
And at the break of day, I'll be a runaway
A hundred miles in, I've got a stupid grin On my scruffy face
With every cigarette, I'm burnin my regret Don't wanna leave a trace
And from my rear view, I've got a clear view Of who I used to be
A little bit faster now Don't wanna turn around
And pack my bags and never look back Run a parallel line with the railroad tracks
And make my getaway
I'll put the pedal to the metal as the sun goes down
Leave everyone sleepin in this sleepy town tonight
And at the break of day, I'll be a runaway I'll be a runaway
It's crazy, I know, to count on this road To give me what I need
But with every state line, somehow I find Another part of me YEA
I'm gonna pack my bags and never look back Run a parallel line with the railroad tracks
And make my getaway
I'll put the pedal to the metal as the sun goes down
Leave everyone sleepin in this sleepy town tonight
And at the break of day, I'll be a runaway
I'll be a runaway
I'll be a runaway
