Luke Bryan "Do I"
Luke Bryan’s 33 years may not be evident in his body of country work, but his Georgia swag certainly is. And while his past releases like “All My Friends Say” and “Take My Drunk Ass Home” may have reflected a fun-seeking, Spring Break-playing guy, his new single “Do I” shows off an entirely different side of the up-and-comer.
The first single of his upcoming second album Doin’ My Thing reflects the sweeter side of Luke Bryan, who just had his first child in March 2008. “Do I” begins with an understated country-love song vocal, but escalates into a piano-laden chorus of hoping and wondering.
The song features the lyrics:
Do I turn you on at all when I kiss you baby?
Does the site of me wanting you drive you crazy?
Do I have your love, am I’m still enough?
Tell me don’t I, or tell me do I baby

Luke Bryan
Co-written with Dave Haywood and Charles Kelley of Lady Antebellum, the song is a lover’s heartbroken attempt at reconciliation. In it, Bryan recounts the effects he used to have a past lover, and asks if the flame is still kindled.
Luke Bryan’s simple yet strong vocals are complimented by backing vocals from Hillary Scott, also of Lady Antebellum. The song reminds of the sweetly stated vocals of “First Love Song” and “You Make Me Want To” from Bryan’s 2007 debut I’ll Stay Me.
While his first album reached number two on U.S. country charts, many expect Bryan’s upcoming project to reach number one, on the heels of a following developed touring with Kenny Chesney and Keith Urban, playing Panama City Beach spring break, and releasing hit after hit since first single “All My Friends Say.”
Bryan represents one in an increasing trend of country songwriters, and with this song displays his versatility in moving from pure country (“Country Boy”), to pure party (“Sorority Girls”), to pure love song (“Do I”), and he may be having fans saying they do well into 2009.
