It takes a certain kind of country music fan to be enamored of the music of Luke Bryan – it takes good taste and a love for the infectious, foot stompin’ and relatable kind of music the singer has specialized in since 2007. Bryan’s new single, “Rain is a Good Thing,” is all of the above, and follows in a line of heartfelt, good time songs released the 33-yeard-old country boy.

“Rain is a Good Thing” is the second single off of Luke Bryan’s 2009 offering “Doin’ My Thing.” The album follows the success of his 2007 debut I’ll Stay Me, and the single follows on the nearly chart-topping success of “Do I,” the singer’s smash love ballad which reached number two on the charts.

Luke Bryan thinks Rain is a good thing

In contrast to “Do I,” “Rain is a Good Thing” is the kind of country song that Bryan built his success on: a drinkin’ song about living, farming and getting frisky. In the same vein as past hits “Country Man” and “All My Friends Say,” the new songs sure to rush the top 10 on  the Country Radio charts in a hurry.

The song opens with an infectious guitar chord, calls in some catch fiddle, and introduces the album with Bryan’s untrained, yet sweetly smooth, vocal. Bryan tracks the farming of his father and family, only to related the real importance of the trade: the fact that rain makes corn, and corn makes whiskey, and that whiskey makes the girls get frisky.

With his buddies piling up in trucks, Luke Bryan brings the kind of energy that fans have come to expect of him and his songwriting, which has also been found on Billy Currington song’s penned by Bryan. The song is sure to be a concert favorite, and as Bryan continues to elevate his status as opener to nearly headliner, his live shows have increased in energy, his songwriting has remained ever sharp and songs like “Rain is a Good Thing” have kept the singer pure country into the 2010s.
