Montgomery Gentry "Long Line Of Losers"
Review by Matt Fortuna
The slide guitar injects a bit of old fashioned grit to the down-home statement that is “Long Line of Losers.” The latest single from Montgomery Gentry’s 2008 album Back When I Knew It All, their sixth, follows two number ones and slows down the pace for a bit of introspection and instrumentation.
On the heels of “Roll With Me” and “One in Every Crowd” - both Troy Gentry features - “Long Line of Losers” is a showcase for the slow, southern drawl of Eddie Montgomery. The duo brings a new level of respect and pride to a country family line of “losers,” “boozers,” “convicts,” and descendants of an Irish Cherokee, half Tennessee legacy.
Their genealogy may be infused with a long line of losers, but their recent successes for Montgomery Gentry dictate that the easy style that has brought these two easy going, Kentucky boys four number one hits will make them anything but.

Montgomery Gentry
The resurrection of the slide sound, along with an soothing acoustic guitar, make way for an amped up electric and syncopated chorus. With Troy Gentry on background vocals, this Kevin Fowler penned ditty traces the country background that so many of their Southern brethren can relate to.
Previously featured on Fowler’s 2007 album Bring It On, The Super Duo's album is complemented with other proven success, and under the weights of hits like “Long Line of Losers,” has reached as high as number three on U.S. country charts.
While the duo and their fans may see themselves as a long line of losers, Montgomery Gentry proves that a market for the real country grit still exists.

Montgomery Gentry "Long Line of Loser" Lyrics
Granddaddy was Irish Cherokee
Ran moonshine from here to Tennessee
Spent half his life in the Montgomery county jail
Grandma she got drunk and left
All her kids on her mamas front steps
Nobody's heard from her since she hightailed
I come from a long line of losers
Half outlaw half boozers
I was born with a shot glass in my hand
I'm part hippie a little red neck
I'm always a suspect
My blood line made me who I am
Daddy never finished school
But he shot one mean game of pool
Took a bullet for stealin' cars down in Birmingham
Mama always went to church
But we soon found out what her reasons were
She got caught at the local motel with the preacher man
I come from a long line of losers
Half outlaw half boozers
I was born with a shot glass in my hand
I'm part hippie a little red neck
I'm always a suspect
My blood line made me who I am
I come from a long line of losers
Half outlaw half boozers
I was born with a shot glass in my hand
I'm part hippie a little red neck
I'm always a suspect
My blood line made me who I am
I come from a long line of losers
Half outlaw half boozers
I was born with a shot glass in my hand
I'm part hippie a little red neck
I'm always a suspect
My blood line made me who I am
I come from a long line of losers......
