Rodney Atkins "15 Minutes"

request Rodney Atkins "15 Minutes"Rodney Atkins is set to release his 2nd single from Its America, and its going to be yet another hit for the Knoxville TN native.  "15 Minutes" is the new song from Akins, and if "Its America"'s reception is any indication, this one should go straight up the chart.

Here's Matt Fortuma's review

The follow-up to “It’s America,” Rodney Atkin’s new single “15 Minutes” is a three minute touch of honky tonk tradition. Sings Atkins: “Too many 12-ounce curls, pretty girls and parties ain’t advised/ Well take it from me, don’t believe all that hype.”

The second single from number three charting album It’s America, “15 Minutes” will attempt to duplicate the number one success of the title track, released in late 2008. Following usual Rodney Atkins fashion, the singer’s simple arrangements gruff vocals highlight a down-home, country musical style.

No stranger to the everyday, Atkins relies on a simple lyrics by Tony Mullins and Jamie Lee Thurston, and infuses it with a touch of the sarcastic and fun-loving: “Well you could get hit by a truck tomorrow/ So you might as well live it up tonight.”

A crowd cheering the end of the 2:40 adventure adds to the fun of the song, as does a guitar riff bridge after the second verse. Like the rest of the album, “Fifteen Minutes” follows the themes dear to Atkins’ heart, and most of his fans: namely, the “Simple Things,” “Friends With Tractors,” “Chasin’ Girls,” and the “Best Times.”

The mastermind behind the energy of “If You’re Going Through Hell” and “These Are My People,” Atkins takes a more laid back approach to “15 Minutes.” Accompanying the easy-going topic, slight keyboards and raunchy guitar licks accompany Rodney’s attempt to give up smoking, women, and drinking. In the end, it turned out being the worst 15 minutes of his life.

Atkins again takes us to the things that really matter – livin’ it up at all costs – and what could possibly be more country than that? It’s American to Rodney Atkins, and just plain good country to his fans.

Rodney Atkins "15 Minutes"

Rodney Atkins "15 Minutes"

I got a call from my best friend this evening
He said he wasn’t going out with us guys on Friday night
Yeah he was gonna change
For his new-found flame
To keep her satisfied
I just laughed and said ‘Hey man
Well go ahead and try’

‘Cause I gave up smokin’,
Women and drinkin’ last night
And it was the worst
15 minutes of my life

Now I’ve heard it said
That too much fun’ll kill you
And I’ll be the first to tell you
That I don’t wanna die
Too many twelve-ounce curls, pretty girls
And parties ain’t advised
Well take it from me
Don’t believe all that hype

‘Cause I gave up smokin’,
Women and drinkin’ last night
And it was the worst
15 minutes of my life
That’s right

You can get hit by a truck tomorrow
So you might as well raise a little hell tonight

‘Cause I gave up smokin’,
Women and drinkin’ last night
And it was the worst
15 minutes of my life
Man it was the worst
15 minutes of my life
That’s right

Never again…
