Sara Evans "Feels Just Like A Love Song"

Review by Amy Blizzard

In recent years, country artist Sara Evans has become more commonly known as a celebrity caught in the middle of a messy divorce that became tabloid fodder and a contestant waltzing on ‘Dancing with the Stars’ instead of a singer with impressive pipes.  But with the release of ‘Feels Just Like a Love Song’, the lead-off single from the upcoming album set to drop later this year, Evans rightfully returns to the singing roots that first brought her fame.

She shares a writing credit alongside producer Nathan Chapman and songwriters Chris Lindsey and Aimee Mayo with the new ditty that focuses on the sparks and tingles that resonate with new love and the journey Evans has taken with her fresh start on life alongside husband Jay Barker.

With its overtly smitten title and heavy infusion of a pop touch from start-to-finish, ‘Feels Just Like a Love Song’ might cause a listener to easily expect a performance from teen favorites Taylor Swift or Kellie Pickler, but Sara Evans holds her own and brings a youthful energy that matches the pace of the up-tempo that will keep the young crowd interested and g-rated references to adult love that will engage older fans.

Is Sara Evans Looking for her love song?

Is Sara Evans Looking for her love song?

Not looking to pursue a crossover career, Evans does not completely abandon her country niche, and sings her vocals with a subtle Southern twang and maintains familiar country beats and guitar licks much in the same vein as her previous hit release ‘As If’'.

With her new single, Sara Evans isn’t breaking new ground with the simple lyrics, common subject matter and production that at times verges on being overzealous. But it is a solid effort with a memorable melody and catchy hook that is fun and pleasant and a great pick me up after a bad day. And ultimately, ‘Feels Just Like a Love Song’ is a nice snippet for fans eagerly awaiting the release of her next album and a very welcomed return to radio where her lovely voice has been sorely missed.
