Steve Holy "Baby Don't Go"
Review by Matthew Fortuna

A long time in the making-that might describe Steve Holy’s entire endeavor into country music, his career, his latest album and his latest single. But a long time or not, “Baby Don’t Go” is a well-deserved treat for the patient fans, the silently waiting or those who never even knew what they were missing.
The fifth single off of his second album Brand New Girlfriend, “Baby Don’t Go” was recorded and released on that record a long three years ago. Only his second album in nearly 10 years signed to Curb Records, Brand New Girlfriend and Steve Holy have produced the kind of quality that has landed the Dallas, Texas native on the chart 13 times, and “Baby Don’t Go” is likely to be no exception.
The 37-year-old Holy is a singer and an entertainer, and his singles have represented country-energy and Southern swag. “Baby Don’t Go” stands as a braggadocious plea to a lover not to leave. While the plea is there, the energy speaks not of desperation, but of lust and desire, and the result is an infectious vocal and a driving lyric.
With a devastating fiddle on top of a perfectly syncopated drum, Holy rides the beat exactly over three verses, prouncing each syllable on top of each drum clap, giving the song a rising effect to each hook.
Steve Holy has had past success in number ones “Good Morning Beautiful” and “Brand New Girlfriend,” but “Baby Don’t Go” represents a new progression in his career, and his latest album attracted song-writing credits from respected peers like John Rich, Chuck Wicks and Keith Anderson, and if Holy has the grit to record with the top of the pops, he should have no problem reaching the audiences with “Baby Don’t Go.”

"Baby Don't Go" Lyrics
I can't believe I told you if you ever go through
With walking out that open door
I would be okay but I must have been insane
I won't be saying that no more
Baby don't go, baby don't go
I miss the little chances to do some more romancing
And make you feel like a million bucks
I've taken you for granted, granted
I've been blind but my eyes have opened up
Baby, don't go, baby don't go
Don't you walk, walk, walk away
Baby, don't, don't you leave
Please stay baby come back
You know I want you now
I was wrong, baby, don't go
I wanna hold, hold, hold you tight
Do whatever it takes make, make it right
Give me a second chance
You know I love you so
Baby, don't go
Clouds are overhead, a storm is moving in
What a bad time to be on the road
It's a poor idea with the fuel prices high
And your gas tank is really low
So baby, don't go, baby, don't go
Don't you wallk, walk, walk away
Baby, don't, don't you leave
Please stay baby come back
You know I want you now
I was wrong, baby, don't go
I wanna hold, hold, hold you tight
Do whatever it takes make, make it right
Give me a second chance
You know I love you so
Baby, don't go
Don't you wallk, walk, walk away
Baby, don't, don't you leave
Please stay baby, come back
I wanna hold, hold, hold you tight
Do whatever it takes make, make it right
Give me a second chance
You know I love you so
Baby don't go
Baby, don't go, baby don't go
