A Toby Keith kind of band, with a Toby Keith kind of sound, newcomers Trailer Choir ready their upcoming first album with new single “Rockin’ the Beer Gut.” Signed to  Show Dog Nashville label, Trailer Choir consists of vocalists Vinny Hickerson, Crystal Hoyt, and Mark Mortney, and a strictly Nashville sound.

The third single from their debut album Off the Hillbilly Hook, to be released in June, “Rockin’ the Beer Gut” follows their charting success “What Would You Say.” With the single the band proudly shows off their energetic and whimsical side. They are a band who grew from the grassroots of the Nashville bar scene, and sound like they’ve been honing their fiddle-infused, banjo sound for years.

The new song follows in the same silly, country style of many of Toby Keith’s most popular songs, and

the same following that Trailer Choir has established around Tennessee. With the 400-pound Big Vinny famous for disco hits and the worm on stage, the band offers a look a purely country turn on: the beer gut.

The song is a simple country ditty, with an easy electric guitar and a simply crafted vocal. Sings the group: “She had everything going on / The first thing that caught my eye / She was rockin’ the beer gut / And I loved the way she was not ashamed / Rockin’ the beer gut / Just a little extra love around her waist.”

Reminiscent of some of the more playful Big and Rich songs, “Rockin’ the Beer Gut” is a good time song for a good time feeling. It sounds of Taylor Swift with Garth Brooks, and looks to bring the two guy, one girl formula back to success. They draw inspiration from their self-proclaimed influences: Tammy Wynette, Oprah, Elvis, and Sonic fast food restaurants.
